Toodeloo Tuvalu
By Liam Gerner, Mark Goldenberg
Toodeloo Tuvalu, I feel for you
Toodeloo Tuvalu, you’ve been swallowed
Noone bothers to do the right thing by you
Tuvalu, we won’t come to your rescue
Toodeloo Tuvalu, hope is hollow
Toodeloo Tuvalu, time is borrowed
We know there’s so much good that could do, me and you
Let’s do it for little Tuvalu
I heard the news you’re sinking on my car radio
I can control my climate feel my car aircon blow
Toodeloo Tuvalu, you are the most
Vulnerable small atoll in the whole world
No surrounding shallow shelf makes you so susceptible
to changes in the sea level
Toodeloo Tuvalu, you can’t blame us
Toodeloo Tuvalu, now you're famous
Climate change is just a way the world will prove
My Crude crew, are born to rule over you Tuvalu
Sit back and watch as you sink
Sipping on an Arctic drink
Melting, ice into dust it turns
Watch it burn, watch it burn, watch it burn
You can’t control our control and our hunger for coal
You can’t control your coral countries own survival
Toodeloo Tuvalu, not our problem
Toodeloo Tuvalu, happy bobbin
We’ll give you some aid if you pick our fruit,
We’re true blue, proud of the polluting we do
Get into your canoe you call Paopao
Paddle to a new a view people powered
We know there’s so much good that could do, me and you
Let’s do it for little Tuvalu

Manymak
Liam Gerner
Tonight the Yirrkala boys thumb rides to Nhulunbuy
Humbuggin beers and bumming smokes in the manymak way
Singing “Treaty Yeah” together on the Arnhem Club stage
By sunrise they took me hunting, I’m catching nothing,
Unc spears a fish, aunt cooks it for the kids in the manymak way
Sharing bush damper together in the tea-bag tree shade
Chorus
Want to live in the manymak way
Give in the manymak way
Wanna to share in the manymak way
Care in the manymak way
Casually set up a P.A. at Ski Beach Cafe
With Barra Westwind, morning dancing in the manymak way
Gurruwiwis Yidaki welcomes us all to country
We sing old songs together, new songs are born
Laws of this country, handed on in the manymak way
Healing in the morning warm wind while the palm tree leaves sway
Chorus
Want to live in the manymak way
Give in the manymak way
Wanna to share in the manymak way
Care in the manymak way
My mind’s been trained to survive the Balanda system
Taking not giving, interfering in the manymak way
Wild natures systems rhythms here are still in their place
Old Salty floats by the front lawn, got one eye open
She don’t get bothered, about no one in the manymak way
Singin “Blackfella Whitefella” at the ski beach cafe
Chorus x2
Want to live in the manymak way
Give in the manymak way
Wanna to share in the manymak way
Care in the manymak way

MARY THE SILENT SECRETARY
By Liam Gerner
V1
Mary moved to Nashville coz she liked the country feel, but
No publisher would sign her, couldn't get a record deal. A
Double denim A&R sleeze broke her country dream, Said
“don’t need another want to be, just a silent secretary!”
V2
Mary chuckled “yes now I guess I’m in the music business.”
Every week or so writers brought their new demos to her office
Chorus
While Mary neatly typed them line by line
She would discreetly change a rhyme
Or write a new verse from time to time
She’d make a rusty hook all sharp and shine
When writers heard their songs got cut by stars
On the radio, up in the charts
“Who changed the words?” they never asked
Maybe it was Mary... the silent secretary.
V3
She spent her days at a desk, and her nights singing for the tourists
Watching stars at the bar from the stage knowing she wrote their hits
She’d be up at first light, see staggering stars on the sidewalk
Thankful that she never got, what she thought she’d always dreamed of.
Chorus
While Mary neatly typed them line by line
She would discreetly change a rhyme
Or write a new verse from time to time
She’d make a rusty hook all sharp and shine
When writers heard their songs got cut by stars
On the radio, up in the charts
“Who changed the words?” they never asked
Maybe it was Mary... the silent secretary.

When Kenny Keen Went Camping
By Liam Gerner
Kenny Keen flew to North East Arnhem land
Form Melbourne to Nhulunbuy
His gigs went grand, the locals sang
And joined him on the Yidaki.
Kenny Keen was keen to see the sights
So solo to the bush he trekked
Drove a Gove Rental four wheel drive
With no off road experience.
Kenny Keen went fishing for Queenies
Down in Daliwuy
But a glimpsey of princey is all that he caught
Bar the lures that he snagged on the bauxite
Kenny keen rumbled down to Cape Arnhem
Humming a cheerful tune
When the track turned into a cliff,
then a swamp and then a giant sand dune.
Chorus
Don't mind the crocs, don't mind the sea snakes
Your jelly fish and buffalo aren't half as dangerous
Your cyclones are far less out of hand than when
Kenny Keen went camping in North East Arnhem Land
Kenny Keen got bogged on twin eagle beach
Sweated five litres trying to dig out his rig
With no recovery tracks, the rig just sank deep
Had to sleep in it on the side of a cliff
Kenny Keen felt sheepish as a sheep
Grazing by that croc out on ski beach
Lost and alone and no way to phone for help
But in awe of all he saw while feeling sorry for himself.
Kenny Keens’ phone got no receptions
So he scrambled to the top of snake dune.
The rangers were away, triple O said “No”
But mechanical Mike came out to the rescue
Kenny Keen stood back, Mike kicked off his thongs
Then drove it like stole a rental over that dune
Kenny Keen thanked Mike and promised from now on
He won’t go Keenly camping maybe stick to singing songs
Chorus
Don't mind the crocs, don't mind the sea snakes
Your jelly fish and buffalo aren't half as dangerous
Your cyclones are far less out of hand than when
Kenny Keen went camping in North East Arnhem Land

ALLIGATOR JUSTICE
Liam Gerner
V1
WE DON’T NEED TO THE CALL THE COPS DOWN HERE
WE CAN MAKE OUR TROUBLES DISAPPEAR
DEEP INTO THE BAYOU WE WILL TAKE
YOU TO MEET A LAW YOU CAN’T ESCAPE
ch
ALLIGATOR JUSTICE, BITING ON YA BAD ASSE
YOU’RE GOING DOWN, LOCKIN THE JAW
YOU’RE GONNA GET YOURS
GONNA TEACH HIM A LESSON, (GET EM BOY)
v2
NO ONE WANTS TO GET INTO THE PATH
OF THE HUMAN HURRICANE YOU ARE
NATURE GONNA BALANCE UP THE SCALE
AIN’T NO MONEY GONNA BUY YOUR BAIL FROM
ALLIGATOR JUSTICE, BITING ON YA BAD ASSE
YOU’RE GOING DOWN, LOCKIN THE JAW
YOU’RE GONNA GET YOURS
GO ON TEACH HIM A LESSON
THE LAST THING HE FELT, BEFORE THE FIRE OF HELL
WAS THE POWER OF THE LAW IN AN ALLIGATORS’ JAW
I love the way they give in New Orleans
The mighty mardi gras indians
I love the way they dance in Lafayette
Young an old together do two step

UNDERSTANDING (SAND IN HER TOES AND SAND IN HER SHOES)
Louis King and Liam Gerner
V1
She’s been drinking down by the wharf
Away from the noise
She sits singing songs I don’t know
Lost in her thoughts
She’s been missing everyone
That she has lost.
CHORUS
Love, good and bad,
I understandin in sand in her toes and sand in her shoes
Standing in sand in her toes and sand in her shoes
Love, good and bad,
I understandin in sand in her toes and sand in her shoes
Standing in sand in her toes and sand in her shoes
Run down the beach go on
Run down the beach go on
V2
She’s been missing laps of the sun
All on her own
Left me dreaming, I cannot see
All she’s become
Now we’re both staring, out to the sea
Endless horizon
CHORUS
Love, good and bad,
I understandin in sand in her toes and sand in her shoes
Standing in sand in her toes and sand in her shoes
Love, good and bad,
I understandin in sand in her toes and sand in her shoes
Standing in sand in her toes and sand in her shoes
Run down the beach go on
Run down the beach go on
SOLO
V1
She’s been thinking down by the wharf
Away from the noise
CHORUS
Love, good and bad,
I understandin in sand in her toes and sand in her shoes
Standing in sand in her toes and sand in her shoes
Love, good and bad,
I understandin in sand in her toes and sand in her shoes
Standing in sand in her toes and sand in her shoes
Standing in sand in her toes and sand in her shoes
Standing in sand in her toes and sand in her shoes
Standing in sand in her toes and sand in her shoes

Estamos Vivos
By Liam Gerner, Roman Lacrouts
Just the cold waves rolling along the low tide
And the silver sand shining bright from sunrise
Lights up grey scrub on the dark mountainside its a gold sign
“I’m alive, estoy vivo mama, must be a sign i’m alive.”
As a convict I built boats from Huon pine
In Macquarie Harbour for Britain’s Empire.
Hell they left us alone to build their last ship, so we stole it.
“We’re alive, estamos Vivos Arthur, must be a sign we’re alive”
Yeah we cast off the brass with half our supplies
“Have a nice hike back to old Hell Hole-bart guys”
Then we raised mast and hauled asse, no maps just stars as our sole guide
“We’re alive, estamos vivos Chile. Sunk that ship when we arrived.”
I’m an Irishman drinking free wine
Not a convict who aint done my time.
Spend my life dancing cueca free with my amor here in Chile
Aint no empire’s gonna take my life, ain't no empires gonna take mine
Baila, baila, baila, toda la noche
Baila, baila, baila, con migo mi amor
Baila, baila, baila, toda la noche
Baila, baila, baila, con migo mi amor

Put Me In Your Pocket

Put Me In Your Pocket
(Liam Gerner, John Pnut Harrison, Nicholas Littlemore)
I’m just a boy standing in front of a girl
Asking you to love me
Wondering if love can survive in a messed up world
Wondering if we can make it
Wondering if you can
CHORUS
Put me in your pocket
I want you to take me everywhere
I hope you know that you can
So that when you leave me
Wherever you go I’ll be there
We can make it, we can make it.
I’m just a man, my futures in the palm of your hand
Wondering if we can make it
You dont have to carry that stone all by yourself
Like a brother I will help you
Lover would you care to.
CHORUS
Put me in your pocket
I want you to take me everywhere
I hope you know that you can
So that when you leave me
Wherever you go I’ll be there
We can make it, we can make it.
I just can’t hide
We can make it don’t matter how far you are
I wont let the distance get between this chance and us
We can make it if we want to love
Make it if you want to love.
We can make it, we can make it.
Put me in your pocket
I want you to take me everywhere
I hope you know that you can
So that when you’re leaving
Wherever you go baby I’ll be there
We can make it, we can make it.
Put me in your pocket
I want you to take me everywhere
I hope you know that you can
So that when you’re leaving
Wherever you go baby I’ll be there
We can make it, we can make it.
I’ll be there
We can make it, we can make it.
I’ll be there

It Was Told

It Was Told
By Neil Murray
When the first tall ships came
We were scared we were afraid
For It was told in the stars
Strangers would come from a far
To our land once they had seen
They would return and never leave
What kind of man would believe
Their way of life is so supreme
That they must take another's home
For their King to call his own
Even though people live there
They could not see we were like them
They could not see we were like them
With the power of a gun
They would take and we would run
Of our land and our sacred ways
They could not understand
They thought their way of life
Was better and it was right
That we be dispossessed
To make way for progress
To make way for progress
And now he we are
Living together and apart
As one nation in the modern world
With all its wonders and its curse
Less we forget our own past
And the people who were here first
Who lost their freedom
But shared their land
To the newcomers lent a hand
For it was told in the stars
Strangers would come from a far
They would sail the Southern sea
Just to meet our destiny
Just to meet our destiny
